On the move: Truth Initiative finds new creative office space in D.C.'s Chinatown
The public health organization behind the truth® campaign, Steven A. Schroeder Institute for Tobacco Policy Studies, and community engagement and youth activism initiatives geared toward ending youth tobacco use, has set up a new Washington, D.C. headquarters at 900 G Street, N.W.
Truth Initiative CEO and President, Robin Koval sought out a space that would reflect the organization’s tobacco prevention goals and its core values of courage, curiosity, collaboration and commitment. “We are a creative team with a life-saving mission,” Koval said. “Now, we are working in an open and collaborative atmosphere that speaks to how and why we are inspiring and engaging youth and young adults to make this generation the one that ends tobacco use.”
Earlier this year, the organization adopted the Truth Initiative brand to the proven-effective, social change campaign with the tobacco control research and policy studies, and community and youth activism programs that together speak, seek and spread the truth about tobacco and the tobacco industry.
The new office space has been designed for Truth Initiative’s 100-plus staff and spans more than two floors in a newly-opened office building located in Washington D.C.’s Chinatown neighborhood. The open-plan office was designed and built by a team that includes architecture firm HLW and Rand Construction Corp. Steelcase and other furniture was acquired through Arbee Associates. Varia Systems Inc. coordinated installation of audio visual technology and devices. The new Truth Initiative brand has been integrated into the space with artwork and design elements created by Graham Hanson Design and drive21.
