What is your state doing about tobacco?
While the national high school smoking rate is 6% as of 2019, many states lag far behind, including West Virginia at 13.5% and Kentucky at 8.9%.These states are also known to have adult smoking rates on par with developing countries. The average state tobacco tax is $1.82, but a handful of states have adopted tobacco taxes considerably higher than that amount, including the District of Columbia with a tax of $4.50.
